How Spikka computes, and where AI stops
Many “AI astrology” tools hand a birth date to a language model and publish whatever comes back. That is not our approach, and the distinction changes everything about reliability. Here is the actual chain, step by step.
Positions are computed, never guessed
Every analysis starts from a deterministic astronomical computation: planetary positions, houses, angles, fixed stars, aspects and orbs, secondary progressions, primary directions, solar returns and profections. These values come from ephemerides and a calculation engine, not from a language model. Two runs on the same birth data return exactly the same sky — that is what deterministic means, and it is the precondition for an analysis to be verifiable.
AI writes; it does not decide the sky
Language models come in afterwards, for one precise task: turning established data into readable prose. They receive a factual sheet produced by the engine — the chart, the configurations retained, their hierarchy — and write from it. SpikkChat, the assistant in your account, runs on Gemini 3.5 Flash for everyday exchanges and Gemini 3.1 Pro when a question calls for more reasoning. A model that lacks a piece of data does not substitute one: it says so.
The infrastructure
The application is hosted on Vercel in Europe (Frankfurt) and the database on Neon, also in Frankfurt. Sign-in works through a Google account (OAuth) or by e-mail. Birthplace entry relies on the Google Places API to resolve reliable coordinates and time zones — a detail in appearance, decisive in practice: a few kilometres off, or daylight saving applied wrongly, and the Ascendant moves. The safeguards we hold ourselves to
Astrology is offered as a tool for self-exploration, not as predictive science and not as a substitute for medical, legal or financial advice. The texts avoid the register of inevitable fate, make no diagnosis and promise no dated event. Birth time rectification, for instance, runs on a fully deterministic protocol with no generative AI on the result. We would rather state an uncertainty than manufacture a certainty.
Frequently asked questions
Is ChatGPT writing my chart?
No. A language model writes the final text, but from a chart computed beforehand by our engine. It chooses neither the positions, nor the aspects, nor the configurations brought forward.
Which AI models do you use?
SpikkChat runs on Google's Gemini models — 3.5 Flash by default, 3.1 Pro for requests that demand more reasoning. Reports are written by language models selected according to the type of analysis.
Why insist on “deterministic”?
Because a language model asked for a planetary position will invent a plausible but wrong value. By computing it ourselves, the chart is correct; the AI only has to explain it, which it does very well.
Where is my data hosted?
In Europe: the application on Vercel in Frankfurt, the database on Neon in Frankfurt as well. Some providers are established outside the European Economic Area; those framed transfers are detailed in the privacy policy.
Are my conversations used to train a model?
No. Your data serves to produce your analyses and run your account. Processing terms, retention periods and your rights of access and deletion are described in the privacy policy.
Is birth time really indispensable?
For the Ascendant and the houses, yes: a few minutes shift the whole frame. Without it, planets, signs and aspects remain usable, and a rectification protocol can recover a plausible time.
